			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Providence, RI &#8211;  On the tidal flow of the Seekonk River, David Fette (2009) helped the Boston University Terriers&#8217; 1st Freshmen 8 to a nearly 10-second victory over Brown University on Saturday, March 27th.  Sitting 3 seat, David and the other Terrier frosh men beat a Brown crew that won every event they entered- the 1st &amp; 2nd Varisty 8s and 1st &amp; 2nd Freshmen 8s &#8211; of the Eastern Sprints Championship last year.</p>
<p>David and the Terriers will race again on Saturday, April 10th against crosstown rival Northeastern University.</p>
<p>On the women&#8217;s side, Maya Oren (2007) and the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets kicked off their spring racing season with 2 wins for the record books at the John Hunter Regatta in Gainesville, Georgia, the site of the 1996 Olympic rowing course. Oren, President of the Yellowjackets&#8217; club,  helped the Varisty 8+ post a gold medal performance beating 2nd place Rollins College by 5 seconds, taking 1st of 12 crews.  Following her win in the 8+, Oren moved on to the lightweight 4+ where she added another gold medal to her collection, besting the 2nd place crew from Clemson University by 7 seconds.</p>
<p>Maya and the Yellowjackets will be racing next on Saturday, April 10th at the Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Boston MA- Gainesville Area Rowing alumni had a strong showing at the 45th Annual Head of the Charles Regatta.  The Charles, the premiere fall event in rowing, attracts over 7,500 athletes from around the world and draws in 300,000 spectators for the two-day head race on the Charles River.</p>
<p>On the men&#8217;s side was David Fette, a Freshman at Boston University.   Sitting 5-seat in the men&#8217;s club 8, David helped the Terriers to a 3rd place finish of 46 crews with a time of 15:38.7.  The event was won by Yale University with a time of 15:22.6</p>
<p>On the women&#8217;s side was Maya Oren, a junior, rowing for Georgia Tech in the women&#8217;s Collegiate 4+.  Sitting bow seat Maya and her  Yellow Jacket crew placed 6th of 29 with a time of 20:06.8  Trinity College won the even with a time of 19:15.6.  Maya&#8217;s boat had 3 lightweights (including Maya) and one open weight in an open weight event.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Princeton NJ &#8211; Gainesville Area Rowing alums had a strong showing at the Princeton Chase Sunday.  The Chase, a 3-mile head race held on Lake Carnegie featured Varsity lightweight &amp; heavyweight 8s, Novice 8s as well as Varsity &amp; Lightweight 4s, and small boats competition.</p>
<p>David Fette, a freshman rower for Boston University men&#8217;s team, sat 4-seat of the Terrier&#8217;s Freshman 8 that placed 4th of 17 crews with a time of 14:07.6.  Princeton won with a time of 13:41.1</p>
<p>On the women&#8217;s side was Scotia Stein in the 6-seat and Jenny Tomlinson in the 2-seat of University of Virginia&#8217;s Novice 8.  The Cavs&#8217; boat placed 3rd of 16 crews with a time of  16:26.0 behind 1st place Princeton (16:13.8) and 2nd place Colombia (16:25.7).</p>
