Programs

Gainesville Area Rowing provides three rowing programs to the Gainesville and Alachua County Area:

  • High School Rowinggar-1_jun2

Gainesville Area Rowing’s High School Rowing program teaches physical fitness, nutrition, and psychological skills that lead rowers to heightened mental and physical self-awareness.  GAR Alumni have gone on to compete at many universities including Boston College, Boston University, Emory University, Georgia Tech, Northeastern University, University of Central Florida, University of North Carolina, University of Pennsylvania, University of Rhode Island, University of Virginia, University of Texas, The United States Naval Academy, Rollins College, Rutgers University, Williams College and Yale University.

  • Middle School Rowing

Gainesville Area Rowing offers a Middle School rowing program.  The middle school sculling program is a fun way to enjoy the outdoors, get fit and make new friends!

  • Adult Rowing

DSC_00141Gainesville Area Rowing offers an Adult Rowing Program called GAR Masters.  Masters are adults 22+ who row competitively and recreationally.  Adults between 18-22 years of age are considered college rowers but are welcome to row with the GAR Masters team.  Many people new to this sport do not realize that the word “master” refers only to the age of rower and is not an indication of ones rowing prowess.
